Airport security guard caught stealing money from passenger's handbag right in front of the passenger

An airport security guard was arrested, after she was caught stealing money from a passenger's bag. CCTV at the airport caught Busakorn Somkwamdee opening the inside flap of a passenger's handbag and stealing £450 just as the bag was passing through an x-ray machine.

The incident happened yesterday at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand.
According to reports,  26-year-old Somkwamdee stole from a passenger who at the time was unaware she was being robbed just as her handbag was passing through a conveyor belt.

Somkwamdee put her hand in the bag and pulled out 4,000 Chinese Yen, then put them into her right pocket while the owner of the bag stood next to her oblivious of what had happened.

After the passenger settled in at the airport, she discovered her money was missing so she contacted the airport authorities who then checked the CCTV footage.
Police pounced on Somkwamdee who had worked in the airport for two years. She was interviewed and suspended immediately she confessed to the crime. She however denied she had stolen before. She said it was her first.
Deputy Director of the airport,  Kittipong Kittikajorn said the money has been returned to the passenger. He said:
Airport officials are reviewing CCTV to check if the staff member has stolen from other passengers. We believe that there could be other thefts because she carried out this one very professionally. She was quick with her hands and knew how to avoid CCTV cameras. ”All the evidence will be gathered and she will be prosecuted.
”The money was returned to the passenger who was very relieved. The offender insisted it was her first time stealing from passengers but we do not believe her.
”We have contacted the security company that hires the guards and instructed them to improve the screening process when hiring guards.”
