Kidnapper burnt to ashes after he was caught trying to abduct a mother and her four children in Calabar

The once peaceful city of Calabar is now a den of thieves, kidnappers and deadly cultists. An alleged kidnapper was burnt to ashes on Wednesday, after he was caught trying to make away with his victims, a woman and her four children.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around Teachers Training College, Ikot Ansa, Calabar. The mother of four was dropping off her children in school when she was forcefully taken by her adductors, three male and a female. Two of them jumped into her car while they other two followed behind.

A motorcyclist figured they had been a kidnap after he saw the door to the woman's car open and close at intervals while the car was in motion. The cyclist raised an alarm and before long, the kidnap attempt was halted and the woman and her kids freed.

One of the abductors ran into a nearby cemetery but was eventually caught while the other one was set ablaze by an angry mob. The mob cut off his foot and his hand before setting him ablaze. The one caught in the cemetery narrowly escaped lynching after policemen from Ikot Ansa police station arrived the scene.

These had been the fifth attempt on the woman and her husband who is said to be quite wealthy.
