Statue of South African President Jacob Zuma in Imo State? WTH is Rochas Okorocha doing?

Governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha on Saturday unveiled a huge statue of South African president Jacob Zuma, he erected in the state. He also conferred on Zuma, a chieftaincy title Ochiagha di oha mma of Igbo land, meaning the people's warlord.

That wasn't all, Okorocha also named a street after Zuma who is visiting Imo State for most likely the first time and crowned it all with the highest award in the state, Imo Merit Award. The award is usually given to people who have distinguished themselves in their various endeavours.

Why are our Nigerian politicians like this? What in God's name is Jacob Zuma's statue doing in Imo State. What has Zuma done for the people of Imo State or even Nigeria as a whole to get that kinda recognition.

Zuma is fast becoming unpopular with his people, but in Nigeria, he is now a chief. Any idea why Okorocha chose to honour a man whose countrymen have been killing innocent Nigerians in the name of xenophobia.

A few days ago, a video of a Nigerian man gunned down by South African police went viral. The deceased friends wailed and lamented while filming the unprovoked brutality.
Days later Zuma lands in Imo State and has been given first class treatment and a monument erected in his honour, with former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo in attendance. This is very sad indeed. I am starting to think Rochas Okorocha just loves to be in the news.
