R Kelly accused of running a sex cult where he keeps teenage girls against their will

RNB singer R. Kelly has been accused of running a sex cult with underage girls. According to Buzzfeed,  R Kelly whose real name is Robert Kelly takes advantage of teenage girls, seeking help in launching a career in music.

Once they are of legal age, R. Kelly allegedly moves them into a rented apartment. These girls are usually between the ages of 19-21.

After some time, he establishes a sexual relationship with the girls, then starts to control and dictate their way of life.

He reportedly seizes the cell phone of the girls, making it impossible for them to contact their parents. They have to seek permission for him before contacting anyone.

R. kelly also reportedly makes the girls whom he calls Babies call him Daddy. The report on Buzzfeed said Robert Kelly makes them face the wall when taking to him in the presence of his male visitors, so his male visitors don't admire the teenage victims.

He makes them wear unattractive clothes so no one else can see their bodies.

One of the victim's mom told the publication, her daughter was 17 when she met the singer. She later ran off with him, moving into one of his rental properties once she was of legal age.

The victim's mom who asked to be called Theresa said:

My thing was I trusted. I have never been in the music industry before, ever,” Theresa said. “He is a lyrical genius — he is R. Kelly! And the fact is he went to court, he was never found guilty — he was acquitted — and we were led to believe there was no truth in it. Now I got all of these people asking about why my daughter is there, telling me, ‘All of that, the charges against Kelly, was true.’ Well, how come you didn’t tell me that before?

She said her daughter first met him when they took her to watch him perform at a Punk Fest in Orlando on April 18, 2015. Theresa said:

During the show, they were pulling people out of the audience. A guy said, ‘Oh yeah, her.’ He pulled her up onstage.

After the show, a member of R. Kelly's entourage gave the teenage girl his number, Theresa said.

We called, but he wasn’t answering, so we left it alone,” she said. “Then I guess he must have got back later on or texted her later on.
Unbeknownst to Theresa and her husband,  Kelly later reached out to the girl and their relationship grew from text messages to calls.

And then one day we were looking for her because she should’ve been coming home from school,” Theresa said. “Then finally we get a text message saying that she’s OK, that she had met up with R. Kelly in his hotel. And I’m like, ‘You met up with R. Kelly at his hotel?’

The victim's parents rushed to the hotel, but Kelly refused to see them. After the incident, Theresa warned her daughter to only speak to Kelly when she or her husband Angelo was around. Se said:

We needed to make sure it was about music, because he was going to mentor her,” she said. “And then from there he wanted her to travel with him so she could see how the music game really was. ... We thought it could be an opportunity, and that she was going to be with a guardian — a female guardian that would keep an eye on her.
But that didn't seem to work, as soon enough, the poor girl was living with Kelly and has since stopped communicating with her parents.

Another one of his victim's mother who wants to be identified only as J said it was as if her daughter was brainwashed. She said her daughter looked horrible like a prisoner the last time she saw her.

It was as if she was brainwashed. [She] looked like a prisoner — it was horrible,” she said. “I hugged her and hugged her. But she just kept saying she’s in love and [Kelly] is the one who cares for her. I don’t know what to do. I hope that if I get her back, I can get her treatment for victims of cults. They can reprogram her. But I wish I could have stopped it from happening, she said.
