A 14-year-old maid is in police custody after she allegedly attempted to poison her boss because she was reprimanded.

Her boss, 63-year-old Nasiru Akinlosotu, escaped death by a whisker after Mary Akinnifesi put rat poison in his dinner .

Mary was said to have made the move against her master because he reprimanded her about messing up the living room with water the previous day.

Not realizing that the suspect was nursing a resentment against her husband, Sikirat the wife of the victim asked the maid to prepare beans for dinner.

The mean maid prepaid dinner then added a poison his wife bought earlier to rid their house of rats to his dinner.

According to Sunday Vanguard, Akinlosotu returned home that night, requested for his dinner and his maid served him the contaminated food.

While blending the beans with a spoon, the victim perceived an offensive smell but still put the spoon in his mouth,  only to spit it out immediately following the dreadful taste.

The maid was summoned but she denied she had done anything wrong, instead she claimed she added some spice to it to give the meal a pleasant aroma.
The victim not satisfied with her explanation queried further until she confessed to poisoning the food. He invited his neighbors to hear her confession and she was later arrested.

Describing how he escaped, Akinlosotu said it was an act of God. He explained he had no idea that his maid could go to such a degree to kill him, because he rebuked her.

He said:

“I had even put a spoon of the beans in my mouth and about to swallow it when I discovered  offensive odour and  unpleasant taste from the food.
“I immediately vomited the beans and called Mary to ask why the beans was smelling in such a manner and the taste  was awful but she claimed she added spice”.

He said her explanation was unconvincing hence he raised the alarm and invited neighbours.

“It was in the course of interrogation by neighbours that the housemaid confessed that she crushed  the medicine meant for rat that was bought few days ago by my wife and poured it into my own share of the food”, he narrated.
“She later stated that she decided to add the poison into my food in retaliation for the correction which I made  when she committed an offence in the house.
“After the confession, I contacted my wife by phone and narrated the incident to her. “Upon her arrival in the house, she decided to report the matter at Yaba Divisional Police Station in Ondo town for further investigation into the matter”.

The victim, however, said he or his family would not press charges against the suspect.
“Since God has delivered me from death, why should I fight again?  I have left everything to God”.
