Little boy swept away by flood in Akwa Ibom after he falls into gutter (graphic photo)

A little boy lost his life on Saturday after he fell into a drain and was swept away by flood. The incident happened in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The boy, identified as Jeremiah Ukeme, was swept away by flood into a non barricaded underground tunnel constructed by Julius Berger at Nsikak Eduok Avenue in Uyo.

According to Facebook user Uduakabasi Ikpat who shared the news, Jeremiah's aunt witnessed the incident. She tried to rescue him and nearly lost her life in the process. Udauakabasi wrote:
BLACK SATURDAY!
Moments ago, a boy slipped into gutter and was swept by flood into the non-barricaded underground tunnel constructed by Julius Berger at Nsikak Eduok Avenue in Uyo.
Sensing danger, his aunt with her few months old baby strapped on her back, leapt into the yawning tunnel for rescue. They were stucked. She was later rescued albeit unconscious with her baby girl still strapped on her back.
The poor boy couldn't be rescued - he is drowned and dragged to God-knows-where by flood.
He is gone forever! Gone because of the unprofessionalism or ineptitude of Berger - few rods or mesh at the mouth of the tunnel could have prevented this sad incident.
Akwa Ibom is inundated with similar dangerous projects.
Days later, Little Jeremiah's body was found in the gutter. See the graphic photos below:
