'Propaganda may help you win elections but can’t help you govern' - Jonathan takes a swipe at APC

What's that thing they say about last laugh being the best? President Jonathan seems to be having the last laugh now. The immediate past Nigerian President reportedly taunted the All Progressive Congress, APC, who wrestled power from him in 2015 using world class propaganda.

According to The Cable, Jonathan had a meeting with People Democratic Party, PDP, leaders in Yenegoa, Bayelsa on Friday. At the meeting, Jonathan reportedly said propaganda might get you into power but you cannot govern with it.
Jonathan said the APC had failed to fulfil its promise to Nigerians, and charged the PDP to work towards ending their reign in 2019. He said:

I believe that PDP will return to power in 2019 if we continue to build confidence especially as the ruling party has failed to meet up their promises and give hope to the people.
“Propaganda may help you win elections but can’t help you govern and that is what APC has seen in the last 32 months.”

The influential politician expressed support for the amendment of the sequence of 2019 elections, and advised the APC to see it as a “patriotic act”.

He said: “Holding presidential election first will affect the quality of persons that will emerge in other polls because of the bandwagon effect.

“The ruling party the APC should see it from national and patriotic interests since laws are not meant for persons in power at a particular time.”
