Nigerian man who spent 6 months in prison because he owed N40k jumps to his death in court

A Nigerian man ended his life at the court yesterday,  because he couldn't pay back the N40, 000 ($115) he borrowed. The incident reportedly happened at the Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos State.

According to Twitter user @O-Nife, the yet to be identified man was arrested by the police after his creditor laid a complaint against him.

He was kept in prison for six months, when he could not pay up. After his arraignment on Wednesday, the man jumped to his death from the 3rd floor of the court building.

Oluwanifemi said, court officials and wardens just stood by looking at the deceased man grapple with death. They didn't lift a finger to help.  Really sad.
